Over Paid?

Professional athletes and actors are millionaires while average people who work hard every day are barely getting by in today's economy. Are actors and athletes overpaid for the work they do?

  1. Theyre not getting overpaid. I personally am going to start for the Orlando Magic alongside Dwight Howard. After my few years starting point guard for the Chicago Bulls. Id like my pay check to be pretty big since im gonna be the greatest and make Ben brand basketball gear.

    1. Do you think it's fair that athletes are paid thousands of dollars per minute while other people who work hard can barely make ends meet?

    3. Not everyone has the skills to become a pro basketball player. In fact, only .03% of males become pro basketball players. Not very good chances!

  2. Many athletes are completely overpaid. While yes, I agree that they are talented and work hard, they don't deserve the ridiculous amount of money they are given. For example, everyone knows that Peyton Manning was just given a $90 million 5-year contract with the Broncos. He is a great player, but he definitely isn't' worth that much money.

    3. Yes, athletes and sports motivate Americans, however, athletes don't need to be paid ridiculous amounts of money!

  4. It is rediculous that athletes who smack, run, jump and throw a ball around are paid more than doctors who save the lives of hundreds if not thousands of people each year.

I must agree, American celebrities function almost exactly like the British Royalty. Athletes get paid more than government leaders and teachers, teachers should get some of the highest pay, because they teach the next generation (of perhaps leaders, athletes, and others in society.)

    1. I completely agree! Start awarding million dollar contracts for the best teachers and you'd see education improve dramatically, I guarantee it.

    3. I don't have to change my name because it's my blog and I'm the teacher. I do sometimes post under a different pseudonym though, so you never know!

  6. It is a proven fact that 70% of athletes who get a pay raise put worse numbers the following, (facts from Sports Illustrated). All you need to look at is Amare Stoudemire who got a $100 million dollar contract and his points per game dropped 9 points in one season. Money is ruining sports too. Players don't care anymore, because they get paid so much. The NBA is nothing what is was in the 90s and 80s. We could use the money going to athletes to build schools in Africa.

  8. So what? Its entertainment and these so-called working people want to see it. Since the best athletes and the most talented celebrities are regarded as the best entertainment they ought to be paid whatever were willing to pay them.

  9. yes it's entertainment but why should they get overpaid for yelling at eachother and sitting around. Their money can go to somehing more useful.

  12. Athletes and actors are way overpaid because they don't play an essential role in our society. The common working man should get paid more because they give more to our world than athletes and actors.
